MAN CHARGED FOR STABBING A POLICE OFFICER

BBC News reports, a man has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and attempted murder after stabbing a police officer in the head. Man charged for stabbing a police officer in the head

It occurred after the PC tried to stop a van early on Thursday in East London. The PC, 28, has been with the force for 10 years. The Met confirmed he will recover. 

56-year-old Muhammed Rodwan is due to appear in court on Friday. 

The Daily Mail says hero passersby’s rushed to help the PC and attempted to stop the bleeding after he had been slashed and stabbed with a machete. 

The Guardian adds the injured PC remains in a serious but stable condition. The paper says his family are receiving support from the Met Police family liaison officers.

BORIS SAYS THE UK HAS “BAGS OF TIME” FOR EU TO COMPROMISE ON BREXIT DEAL

The Independent says the PM has claimed there is “bags of time” for the EU to compromise on a deal. The PM said he was confident the EU would show “common sense” despite the looming Brexit deadline. Boris believes the EU will agree to strip the controversial Irish backstop from the withdrawal agreement. Boris says the UK has “bags of time” for EU to compromise on Brexit deal

Brexit talks have hit a wall after the PM refused to go Brussels until the EU was ready to discuss removing the Irish backstop. 

Boris told the BBC: “ I very much hope that our friends and partners will show common sense and that they will compromise…I’m sure there is compromise to be found and as we’ve made clear, the backstop just doesn’t work for a proud democracy like the UK.”

MISSING NORA QUOIRIN LEFT THROUGH RESORT WINDOW

The Sun reports police have released a picture of the window they believe was propped open in the case of the missing London teen. They say the open window is the only way the 15-year-old could have left the Malaysian resort where she was staying with her family. The same window had unidentified fingerprints and it’s not known if it can be opened from the outside. Missing Nora Quoirin left through resort window

According to the family, Nora would not wander off voluntarily and police are investigating a possible abduction.

The teen has learning and developmental difficulties. 

A top British police officer has likened Nora’s case to the baffling disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
