Derek Chauvin trial: verdict reached after just 11 hours in Floyd killing
The jury in the murder trial of former police Officer Derek Chauvin has reached a verdict over the death of George Floyd.
George Floyd died last May when the white officer Derek Chauvin pinned his knee on the 46-year-old unarmed black man’s neck for more than nine minutes in a case that triggered worldwide protests.
The jury has taken just 11 hours to come to their verdict.
Mr Chauvin is facing three charges: Second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
The fact that I’m seeing so many Americans — of all races — already preparing themselves for a ‘not guilty’ verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial is the truest indictment of the American Justice system and just how little faith the public has in it. #GeorgeFloydTrial
