PHILADELPHIA SHOOTING: AT LEAST SIX OFFICERS SHOT AFTER A GUNMAN OPENED FIRE
RT News reports on yet another shooting in the US this year. At least six officers have been shot in Philadelphia after a gunman opened fire. One suspect was barricaded in a house and continued shooting whilst another has reportedly been taken into custody.
The police were called to respond to “narcotics activity” in the Nicetown-Tioga section of the city at around 4:30 pm local time. One officer was shot in the head but remains conscious, several other officers suffered arm injuries. All officers are expected to survive and have been taken to hospital.
It has been reported that the shooter was live-streaming the showdown on Facebook.

SYRIA REBELS SHOOT DOWN GOVERNMENT FIGHTER JET
Aljazeera reports, Syrian rebels in Idlib province have shot down a government fighter jet. As the Russia-backed government forces closed in on an important town during a push on the last opposition stronghold.
The group responsible for shooting down the jet are the most powerful armed group in the area. And on Wednesday they confirmed shooting down the jet that had taken off from a Syrian airbase in Homs province. However, the group did not say how the plane was shot down.
A UK-based monitor that reports on the war (using sources on the ground) said heavy machine guns had been used. Adding, the pilot ejected from the plane and has been captured.

JAILED SAUDI ACTIVIST REJECTS DEAL TO DENY TORTURE FOR HER FREEDOM
CNN reports Loujain al-Hathloul has rejected a deal that would have freed her from jail if she denied she was subjected to torture. The Saudi women’s rights activist was arrested in May 2018 as part of a government crackdown on critics. Her brother said she had originally agreed to sign the document denying torture. But when security officials requested she made the statement on camera, she rejected the offer.
“When the state security asked her to sign the document for video release she immediately ripped the document,” Her brother wrote. “She told them by asking me to sign this document you are involved in the cover-up and you’re simply trying (to) defend Saud Al-Qahtani who was overseeing the torture.”
Her siblings have detailed her alleged torture which includes being whipped, beaten, electrocuted and harassed. Adding she is sometimes woken up in the middle of the night by masked men shouting “unimaginable threats.”
