SUPPORT GROWS FOR NEW BREXIT POLL AMID FEARS OVER PM’S PLAN
The Observer’s front page leads with claims by pro-Remain MPs that they are gaining enough support to secure a second Brexit referendum. Meanwhile, the paper says the PM’s chance of securing the “crucial” support of DUP MPs “appeared to be in growing doubt” after the party’s leader questioned elements of the proposed deal.

REES-MOGG: PM WON’T CONCEDE TOO MUCH TO EU
The Sunday Telegraph features Jacob Rees-Mogg appealing to Eurosceptic to back Boris Johnson’s proposals. He says “compromise will inevitably be needed.” A senior government source also tells the paper the push by pro-EU MPs to force a vote on making the deal subject to a referendum is “undermining” the PM’s negotiating position.

ENTER THE TORY BREXIT WRECKERS
“Just when the nation dared hope our interminable nightmare might end on October 31st … enter the Tory Breit wreckers,” declares the Mail on Sunday. The paper says Tory rebels are “plotting to sabotage Boris Johnson’s Brexit by forcing a delay to the leaving date – even if the prime minister wins Commons support for a deal.”

BORIS: BRITAIN IS THE GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH
The Sunday Express says the PM will use his forthcoming Queen’s Speech to promise if his new EU deal gets the support of Parliament he will make post-Brexit Britain “the greatest place on Earth.” The speech will include a pledge to end “nightmare” social care bills, according to the paper.

MILLIONS FORCED TO WAIT A MONTH TO SEE GP
The Sunday Mirror reports patients have had to wait a month to see their GP in a “staggering” 15 million cases. The paper exposes the NHS “scandal” amid its campaign to end what it calls a GP “crisis.” According to the paper, one doctor warned that “the wheels are coming off” general practice.”

Ellen and George
In today’s special feature we look at the backlash from the Ellen DeGeneres and George W Bush friendship.
The Guardian asks should we judge Ellen DeGeneres by the company she keeps? Ellen’s monologue, in which she defends her friendship with the former president and says we should treat everyone with kindness, is an attempt “to paint their friendship as some kind of breaking down of barriers.” The paper says she won support from other celebrities with the exception of Mark Ruffalo, who in their opinion has earned his superhero status. The Guardian says the fact Ellen can be friends with the same man who called for a ban on same-sex marriage, actively supported Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the supreme court is quite something. And adds Mr Bush’s only redeeming quality is that he is not Donald Trump. They say the former president’s legacy is that of war, torture and death on an unimaginable scale. And Ellen’s capacity for niceness is not bridging the gap “as it is pathologically uncritical.”
Forbes says the backlash against Ellen DeGeneres exposed the hypocrisy of Hollywood. They say whilst Twitter can be an unhealthy place, it exposes the hubris of the wealthy and powerful. And the sight of Ellen, an LGBT icon, with the man who refused to acknowledge LGBT hate crimes, seems at odds with her public image. They add the countless innocents slaughtered in the Iraq war including US soldiers were apparently no match for the power of Ellen and George’s friendship, forged in private seats of an NFL game. Forbes describes Ellen’s monologue response as peppered with corny one-liners, bizarre and out of touch. And it spoke volumes about the insulated lives of Hollywood’s stars. The support, from fellow rich and famous friends, only emphasised the point these people are shielded from harmful policies and don’t seem to view the atrocities of war as something worth getting worked up about.
FOX News says Ellen and George show us how to be tolerant, respectful and kind. They say Ellen deserves praise for practising tolerance and not choosing friends based on how they vote. They add far-left Hollywood and the #Resistance movement and their followers have allowed their political persuasions to extinguish civility, open-mindedness and respect for different points of view. They say the country would be better off if everyone practised the tolerance and kindness shown by Ellen. And all Americans should follow her lead and practice despite political differences. Adding, the US was founded on the notion of freedom in all its forms: freedom of speech, freedom of thought and the liberty to cultivate one’s own beliefs. And on Election Day, Fox News says you should select representatives without prejudice or penalty.
