WHALEY BRIDGE DAM: SOME RESIDENTS ALLOWED HOME
BBC News reports dozens of Whaley Bridge evacuees have been allowed to return to their homes. Whilst the vast majority of those evacuated are still waiting for the green light for them to return, around 50 homes have been given the all-clear. 
Residents that have been allowed home have thanked the emergency services for their hard work. One resident praised the community spirit and was proud of the community’s efforts. Another resident said they are looking forward to getting a good night’s sleep.
Crews pumping water from the Toddbrook Reservoir have reduced levels by more than 9 metres. A safe level has now been reached and engineers will assess damage to the wall before deciding to let more people return to their homes.
One official said the dam will eventually have to be rebuilt but said it would be “a long term construction project.” The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the area this Friday and Saturday.

BREXIT: GOVE’S STERN WARNING TO EU REFUSING TO NEGOTIATE
The Daily Express reports, Micheal Gove has sent a stern warning to the EU after he accused them of “refusing to negotiate” a new deal. Mr Gove said he was “deeply saddened” by the EU’s lack of cooperation. 
Gove warned the Brussell’s bloc their tactics will not get in the way of the UK leaving by 31 October – with or without a deal. Mr Gove said the government needs a new approach and pointed out former PM May’s deal was rejected 3 times by the House of Commons.
The Guardian adds: “We will put all our energy into making sure that we can secure that good deal but at the moment it is the EU that seems to be saying they are not interested. They are simply saying: ‘No, we don’t want to talk.’ I think that is wrong and sad. It is not in Europe’s interests.” said Gove.

TATE MODERN: BOY, 6 ‘THROWN’ FROM BALCONY SUFFERS BRAIN BLEED AND FRACTURED SPINE
The Independent reports, the 6-year-old French boy ‘thrown’ from the Tate balcony suffered a brain bleed and a fractured spine, leg and arm. A court heard the extent of the French tourist’s injuries today as the 17-year-old charged with attempted murder appeared at Bromley Youth Court. 
The 6-year-old was visiting the Capital with his family when he was grabbed and ‘thrown’ off the 10th floor of the world-famous Tate Modern. He was airlifted to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.
The teenage defendant can not be identified due to his age but spoke in court today to confirm his name, age, address and nationality.
Earlier, The Mirror reported the suspect was a ‘mentally ill teen who escaped carers’. They suggest the teen stays at a ‘secure home’ and was only allowed to leave with carers. Police are investigating whether the teenager escaped the home or went missing on a day trip out. An ex-carer who worked with the suspect said: “He’s one of the most difficult patients I’ve ever encountered.”
