The tennis world is showing its support to Martina Navratilova following her announcement that she has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer.
The 66-year-old is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time following her trophy-laden career at the top of the sport.
Navratilova became a fan favourite at Wimbledon after winning the famous Venus Rosewater Dish multiple times on Centre Court.
But exactly how many times did she win Wimbledon and how many grand slam titles does she have in total?

How many times did Martina Navratilova win Wimbledon?
Navratilova won nine singles titles at Wimbledon, making her the most successful player, male or female, in the history of SW19.
Her first victory at the iconic tournament came in 1978, beating American Chris Evert in three sets when she was just 21.

Her second title arrived a year later, once again overcoming Chris Evert courtesy of a straight sets win.
Navratilova then won an incredible six Wimbledon titles in a row between 1982 and 1987, the first and only player in history to achieve that feat in any grand slam singles tournament.
The Czech-American won her ninth and final title in 1990, defeating Zina Garrison in the final aged 33.
Navratilova also won seven Wimbledon doubles titles between 1976 and 1986, and four mixed doubles titles between 1985 and 2003, the last of which came when she was 46.
This means that Navratilova won 20 grand slam titles in total at Wimbledon, a figure matched only by Billie Jean King.

How many grand slam titles did Martina Navratilova win in total?
Navratilova won 18 grand slam singles titles throughout her career, with three Australian Opens, two French Opens, and four US Open trophies to go with her victories at Wimbledon.

The tennis legend also won 31 doubles titles and ten mixed doubles titles, meaning that she ended her career with 59 grand slams to her name, the most of any player in the Open Era.
Navratilova is one of only three players, alongside Margaret Court and Doris Hart, to have achieved a career Grand Slam in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, known as the Boxed Set in tennis.
She was ranked as the world No. 1 in singles for 332 weeks, second only in the all-time list behind Steffi Graf.
