WhatsApp leaks: Hancock backed pressuring MP into voting for lockdown Leaked messages suggest that the former health secretary Matt Hancock supported the idea of using funding for a disability centre in a Tory MP’s constituency as leverage to persuade him to vote for the Covid tier system in England. The messages, sent on WhatsApp, show that Hancock agreed to put pressure on James Daly, the Conservative MP for Bury North if he failed to vote with the government. However, Hancock’s spokesperson denied the accusations, stating that it never happened. Daly expressed his disappointment with the exchange and stated that the…

A mother whose daughter was seriously injured in a crash near Cardiff that killed three of her friends has said the police did not take her concerns seriously.
Anna Certowicz, the mum of 20-year-old Sophie Russon, told the MailOnline that officers had said her daughter was ‘probably out partying’.
Instead, she was trapped in a Volkswagen Tiguan at the side of the A48 in the Welsh capital for up to 46 hours.
Sophie had been on a night out at the Muffler club in Millport on Friday with her friends Shane Loughlin, 32, Eve Smith, 21, Darcy Ross, 21 and Rafel Jeanne, 24.
Eve, Darcy and Rafel were all discovered dead in the crashed car this morning, with Shane and Sophie rushed to hospital.
Ms Certowicz, 41, told the website she had to go out searching for the group herself.
She said: ‘It’s too awful to imagine what she went through trapped in the car in the dark until it got light and then dark again over two days.
‘Sophie was lying there for all that time, they could all have been found much quicker if the police had started searching straight away.’

She added that her daughter had been conscious some of the time and called out, but nobody was close enough to hear her.
According to Ms Certowicz, it was a volunteer searcher with a dog who found the car rather than the police.
She said: ‘They didn’t take it seriously, they kept saying she’s 20 and they are all probably out partying.
‘I told them my daughter doesn’t go out on three day benders – she and her friends are good girls. It was out of character for all of them.
‘I was ringing the police all through Saturday and Sunday but they didn’t seem bothered.’

Friends and family of the crash victims joined Ms Certowicz in criticising the police effort to find them.
Tamzin Samuels, who was helping the search effort, told The Guardian: ‘I do think the police could have done a lot more – put up the helicopter earlier.
‘They only posted an appeal an hour before the girls were found.
‘The search party found the girls before the police. I think that speaks volumes, really.’
Rhian Taylor, 26, told the newspaper: ‘Those poor young girls could have been saved if they were found earlier.
‘Thousands of people must have driven past. Why did it take so long to find them?’

Rayne is keeping a big secret – one that ‘haunts’ her every day, apparently (Picture: Lime Pictures)
Much like every great Hollyoaks character, Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan) is harbouring a big secret, with the latest episode of the serial drama confirming such a thing.
The newcomer, who rocked up in the eponymous village earlier this year, has made quite they impression on everyone she has crossed paths with.
Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner), however, has particularly been taken with her, having found himself smitten and desperate for a relationship, but his recklessness in accusing her of giving him an STI has firmly put the nail in the coffin of any future romance.
Rayne accepted Romeo’s apologies over what happened during Monday’s (March 6) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap, but reiterated that they can never have a future together, as she promised her online followers that she’d dumped him following their fallout.
Lacey Lloyd (Annabelle Davis) quizzed Rayne on how the break up went, with Rayne admitting that she’s still got feelings for Romeo, but Lacey was quick to reassure her pal that keeping away from Romeo is ‘for the best’ commenting that he had a ‘lucky escape’ after ‘what happened last time’.
A secret confirmed.
Rayne and Lacey discussed the existence of a dark secret (Picture: Lime Pictures)
‘That secret may be buried’, added Rayne, ‘but it still haunts me everyday’.
Consider us very intrigued. Rayne is clearly harbouring a big secret, the question is: just what is it? And what’s more, how bad are we talking?
We also can’t help but wonder if it’s got something to do with the gloved stalker who was watching Rayne and Romeo from afar last week. Could she perhaps have an obsessed fan who is following her and tracking her every move?

Jemma Donovan, who plays Rayne, told Metro.co.uk earlier this year that there is ‘more to come’ for her character, and it appears as if this is truly the beginning of what she was talking about.
‘I think [it] is going to be really fun and interesting for the audience,’ said the former Neighbours star of what the future holds for Rayne. ‘This is just the beginning. There is more to come, for sure.’
