Amnesty International accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza
Amnesty International has issued a powerful report accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The report, titled “You Feel Like You Are Subhuman”: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza, is based on months of research, including witness testimonies, analysis of satellite imagery, and statements by Israeli officials.
The investigation concluded that the Israeli military has committed at least three of the five acts defined as genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention. These include indiscriminate killing of civilians, causing severe bodily or mental harm, and creating living conditions aimed at the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza.
The report’s release marks a critical moment in the global debate over accountability for actions in the region.
“Month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” said Agnes Callamard, secretary-general of Amnesty International.
“Our research reveals that, for months, Israel has persisted in committing genocidal acts, fully aware of the irreparable harm it was inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza,” Callamard said.
