We’re all looking to be a little kinder to our bank balances in January and one woman has shared how you can create your own takeaway-style pizza at home.
A woman has shared a genius hack on how to make a deep dish pizza at home – but it seems an oven isn’t the secret to its success, it’s actually a slow cooker.
Mistie Knight urged people to ‘hear her out’ when posting her hack on TikTok.
In her clip, which has received more than 2.8 million views, she can be seen taking her pizza dough and placing it in the bottom of the cooker, before rolling up the sides to form the iconic deep dish crust.
She then adds pizza sauce, cheese, red and green pepper, red onion, mushrooms and turkey for a meaty twist.
Mistie said: ‘I’m just using the jarred sauce and the pre-made dough because I’m showing you an easy version.
‘But you could always make it from scratch if you want.
‘Then we’re gonna top that with some turkey sausage, cause as I said, we’re trying to make this a little bit lighter and healthier.’
Mistie finishes her recipe with some crushed garlic and melted butter, which she spreads over the top of the crust.
Once the pizza is prepped and ready, she says to cook it on high for two or three hours – depending on the size of your slow cooker.
‘You get a nice golden brown crust,’ she said.
’This was delicious. Your slow cooker is going to surprise you.’
While the hack is no doubt creative, some have pointed out that it’s actually considerably quicker to make a pizza in the oven.
‘That whole thing would take 15 minutes in the oven,’ someone wrote.
‘Now, who’s going to wait 2 hours for that small pizza? Nobody!!!’ while another added.
Mistie shares lots of other cooking tips and recipes over on her TikTok account, including how to make easy one pot dinners and no-bake desserts.
