Jenna Ortega has celebrated the news that Wednesday is officially coming back for season 2 on Netflix, describing the journey she’s been on as ‘pretty surreal’.
After weeks of speculation over the future of the Addams Family spin-off, and rumours that it could be heading to another streaming platform, this week it was confirmed that it would definitely be returning for a second outing.
‘It’s official: Wednesday Season 2 is coming!!’ Netflix revealed on Twitter, after posting a cryptic teaser hinting at the renewal.
Following the confirmation, Wednesday Addams star Jenna, 20, has expressed her gratitude towards all the fans who have supported the supernatural comedy horror.
Boasting 1.1million followers on Twitter and 36.4m on Instagram, she wrote in her message: ‘Thanks to everyone who made this upcoming season possible. This has all been pretty surreal.’
The You actor’s tweet has been liked more than 365,000 times, as fans rushed to join in the celebrations.
‘OMG yes! Welcome back, Wednesday!’ one commented in response, as another said: ‘I love u with ALL MY HEART.’
Someone else tweeted: ‘I AM SO PROUD OF YOUUU!’, while another Wednesday aficionado added: ‘She’s BACK.’
Jenna recently scored praise with Wednesday fans after it emerged that she refused to say a line that she felt would have been out of character for the deadpan outcast.
During a Netflix Q&A, she recalled how Wednesday’s reaction to the black dress she wore to the Rave’N dance at Nevermore Academy was originally supposed to go down.
‘I remember there’s a line where I’m talking about a dress and initially she was supposed to say: “Oh my God I’m freaking out over a dress, I literally hate myself,”’ she recollected.
‘And I was blown away because that sounded like… it was just a bunch of little things like that. I felt like we were able to avoid a lot of dialogue in an attempt to make her sound human.’

Several fans expressed their belief that Jenna should be let into the writers’ room for season two, given how in tune she is with her character.
‘Can we get Jenna in the writers room next season lmao,’ one person commented, while another wrote on TikTok: ‘Nahhh i called it cause why could I tell Jenna was avoiding the bad lines.’
Wednesday is available to watch on Netflix.
