TORY MPs WARNED NOT TO REBEL AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT
BBC News says Tory MPs have been warned not to rebel against the government as opposition MPs plan to stop a no-deal Brexit. A source has said rebels would “destroy” their Brexit negotiating position. Meanwhile, Labour’s shadow cabinet is to meet on Monday to finalise plans aimed at stopping a no-deal Brexit. MPs wanting to stop a no-deal will this week seek to bring forward legislation against it in Parliament. With specific details expected to be outlined on Tuesday. Regardless, the UK is set to leave the EU on 31 October, with or without a deal.

MICHAEL GOVE SLAPS DOWN MICHAEL BARNIER’S VOW TO KEEP THE IRISH BACKSTOP
The Express reports Micheal Gove has slapped down EU negotiator Micheal Barnier’s promise to keep the Irish backstop. Mr Barnier wrote in The Sunday Telegraph saying the backstop represents “maximum flexibility” that Brussells can offer. But Mr Gove played down Barnier’s influence and said the EU commission “ultimately does as the member states decree.” Adding, there was “light at the end of the tunnel” and a possibility of a compromise.

DOUBLE STABBING IN BASINGSTOKE
The Gazette reports residents are in shock following a double stabbing in Basingstoke within the space of nine minutes. The first was reported at 10:44 pm at a property on Shooters Way and the second at Normanton road at 10:53 pm. A resident reported a man was dragged into an alleyway of Shooters Way before being airlifted to hospital where he later died. The paper says the curtains at the home of the first reported stabbing were visibly stained with blood and there were splashes on the upstairs and downstairs windowsills. Both stabbings are being treated as “potentially linked and targeted events.” police say.
