NO-DEAL LEAVES UK ‘AT MERCY OF US’ SAYS CORBYN
BBC News reports Jeremy Corbyn has said a no-deal Brexit will leave the UK at the mercy of US President Trump. Corbyn accused PM Johnson of “cosying up to Trump” because “no-deal Brexit is really a Trump-deal Brexit.” He said: “The chaos and uncertainty caused by a no-deal Brexit is a potential goldmine for speculators betting against the pound.” Adding: “ [No-deal Brexit] won’t return sovereignty, it will put us at the mercy of Trump and big US corporations dying to get their teeth into our NHS, sound the death knell for our steel industry and strip back our food standards and animal welfare protections.” Mr Corbyn is due to meet with other party leaders on Tuesday to discuss his plans to avert a no-deal Brexit.

GOVERNMENT PUTTING BRITS AT RISK BY STRIPPING ISIS MEMBERS’ CITIZENSHIP
The Independent reports a former defence minister has said the government is putting British lives at risk by stripping ISIS members of their British citizenship. He said the detention of thousands of jihadis and their families in Syria was creating conditions for an ISIS resurgence. “We’ll see Daesh 2.0,” he warned. “We’ll see a repeat of al-Qaeda regrouping and becoming a very real threat, and that threat won’t just pose itself in the Middle East, but also in Britain.”

MAN DROWNS AFTER ‘ENTERING WATER’ ON HOTTEST DAY
The Mirror says a man has drowned after swimming in the River Trent after entering the water during the Bank Holiday heatwave. Underwater search teams scoured the river for the man, who sadly died after getting into difficulty shortly after entering the river. His body was recovered at 3.30pm. Police said: “While work is now underway to understand how the man came into difficulty, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight this case as a reminder of the devastating consequences of entering open water- regardless of whether people do so deliberately or inadvertently.”

TEENAGER STABBED TO DEATH IN EAST LONDON
The Guardian says an 18-year-old male has died after being stabbed in east London. He was found with critical injuries in Newham at about 3.30pm on Monday. The London ambulance service was called but he was pronounced dead about an hour later. The Met Police said: “An urgent investigation has been launched. There have been no arrests at this early stage.”
