The Pogues singer Shane MacGowan is facing a health battle after being taken to hospital.
MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clark shared the news in a tweet on Monday, but did not specify what was wrong with the musician.
Clark, a journalist who has been married to MacGowan since 2018, wrote: ‘Please send prayers and healing vibes to @ShaneMacGowan in hospital again and really hoping to get out asap!! Thank you.’
Fans rushed to pass on their well wishes, with one writing: ‘Not at Christmas, the man is the sound of Christmas and the line “you’re the measure of my dreams” are the words I dream a man will finally think of me one day. He sings to my soul, I hope he recovers swiftly and not too much discomfort.’
Another said: ‘All the best for you Shane, I hope you can go home with Victoria soon, best wishes for you both from.’
‘Wishing Shane a speedy recovery & that he is back home again with you soon. Take care of yourself also Victoria, as it must be very worrying for you too,’ one other added.
MacGowan was most recently seen in public in October when he attended an exhibition for his artwork in a wheelchair.
He was accompanied by wife Clark and seen chatting to supermodel Kate Moss while vaping.
The Fairytale of New York singer was showcasing his 502-page limited edition monograph, which included a contribution from Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp, as well as unpublished lyrics, photographs and essays from MacGowan himself.
He has faced several health issues in recent years and has a carer help him at his home in Dublin.

In 2016, he suffered a fall and broke his pelvis before later breaking his knee and tearing ligaments in another accident.
Victoria recently admitted her fears for his health, and told The Guardian in April: ‘I definitely want to help him to stay alive for as long as possible.’
When asked if she ever feels as though she doesn’t want to live, Victoria replied: ‘Yes, quite a lot of the time. But Shane never seems to want not to live. That’s what’s weird.’
MacGowan rose to fame as a founding member of punk band The Pogues, who became famous for their Christmas classic Fairytale of New York, a duet with Kirsty MacColl.
However, the song has fallen under scrutiny in recent years for its controversial lyrics.
Last week, BBC Radio 2 announced it would play a censored version of the song after backlash for not doing so in 2020.
