The Chase star Paul Sinha has revealed his biggest regret was being an addict as a teenager.
The quiz king, 53, opened up about struggling with a gambling addiction and said he regretted ever stepping foot in a betting shop.
‘It’s the one avenue of error where I don’t think any positivity came out of it at all, just a lot of financial losses,’ he explained.
‘So, it’s not that every bad event has a sliding doors silver lining, it’s just most of them do.’
Paul told Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast he contemplates his previous addiction ‘a lot’ because ‘at its worst I was very bad indeed.’

Revealing he had kicked the habit, he said: ‘Now, I can walk past a betting shop and not even have the slightest inclination to walk in, and I think fundamentally, I’m not bored anymore.’
Instead, Paul has discovered a new ‘high’ to curtail his boredom – his smartphone.
He said he no longer had the compulsion to gamble because the ‘whole world is in his hands’ due to his phone, which had satiated his curiousity.

‘I don’t need to gamble to get my high,’ Paul concluded.
Paul has also been open about living with Parkinson’s, having been diagnosed with the progressive condition in 2019, the same year he married his partner Oliver Levy and was named the British Quiz Champion Of The Year.

Last year, he admitted that it was a ‘relief’ to receive the diagnosis, as he was able to ‘own’ it, and more recently shared his anger after a fan tried to hide his ‘shaky hand’ in a photo.
