Texas shooting suspect detained after tip-off
A man suspected of killing five of his neighbours in a shooting near Houston has been arrested. Francisco Oropesa, 38, was found hiding in a home in Cut and Shoot, Texas, and is accused of shooting his neighbours, all of whom were from Honduras, after an argument about his practice shooting with a semi-automatic rifle.
The suspect was arrested just over an hour after a member of the public called in a tip to the FBI, and authorities have praised the bravery of the person who made the call. A reward of $80,000 had been offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, and this money will be given to the tipster.
The man was captured by a specialised unit of the Border Patrol Tactical Unit, and an investigation is underway into how he obtained the weapon used.
