Storm Eunice: Rare red weather warning issued as govt hold emergency Cobra meeting
A rare red weather warning – level severe – has been issued for parts of southwest England and south Wales on Friday. The storm has been upgraded to the highest level meaning there is a danger to life from flying debris.
The Met Office has issued a warning that Storm Eunice could bring winds of up to 90mph and it will lead to significant disruption – there is expected to be damage caused to homes, trains cancelled and power cuts due to the storm.

For the rest of Wales and most of England, the weather warning remains at a lower amber for wind.
The government is holding an emergency Cobra meeting to discuss the response to the incoming storm.
Storm Eunice is causing worry for many, especially coastal flooding in the west, south-west and south coast of England. The River Severn is also a concern for the experts.
According to a government source who spoke to the BBC – the storm surge could coincide with high spring tides. The source said they were “well-prepared” with more than 250 high volume pumps and 6,000 trained staff able to be deployed, adding they were not taking the threat posed by Eunice “lightly”.
The red warning is in place from 07:00 GMT until 12:00 on Friday.

Parts of Kew Bridge and coffee stations and local shops around the station will be closed.
The London Eye and River Cruise’s Twitter account said: “Due to severe weather disruption the London Eye and River Cruise has taken the difficult decision to close Friday.
