The acting legend welcomed in 2023 with his Mother Goose co-star Oscar Conlon-Morrey, who actually plays his son in the much-loved pantomime.
Showing in London, the hilarious panto also features John Bishop among an all-star cast, with Sir Ian playing lead role Mother Goose while the Scouse comic plays her husband.
Running an Animal Sanctuary for waifs and strays, they live a wholesome life inside an abandoned Debenhams. But when a magical goose comes a-knocking, audiences are left to wonder whether fame and fortune will get the better of them.
Oscar, 29, plays Jack in the cheerful performance, and he’s spent so much time with Sir Ian, 83, that they’ve struck up an adorable friendship away from the stage.
Sharing a snap from their New Year’s do, Oscar hailed the Lord of the Rings star the ‘love of my life.’

Since the curtain lifted, Mother Goose has welcomed a whole host of famous faces into the theatre, with stars including Melanie C, James Corden, and Alan Carr all buying tickets to go and watch.
The show has been praised for its joyous production and hilarious script, with John joking at one point after a smooch with Sir Ian: ‘I never thought I’d end up snogging Gandalf,’ unable to resist wiping the lippy from his mouth.
Of course, Sir Ian is no stranger to the screen nor the stage, as the renowned Shakespearean actor played Hamlet in an ‘age-blind’ production of the play last year.
He’ll stay on in Mother Goose at Duke of York’s Theatre until January 29, after which point the show will tour in other venues.
