Thieves smashed the Jaguar’s back window to steal the bike (Picture: BPM)
A mum has hit out at ‘scumbag’ thieves who stole her son’s bicycle from her Jaguar as she rushed him to hospital.
Shelley Wheeler dashed to Sutton Park, north of Birmingham, when she heard Eliott, 13, had broken his collarbone after falling off his bike on Sunday.
She had to wait two hours for paramedics to arrive and stabilise Eliott at the beauty spot, before going with him to hospital in an ambulance.
But when Shelley went to pick her car up the next day, its back window had been smashed and Eliott’s green Carrera mountain bike was gone.
‘They’d thrown a rock to break the window,’ Shelley said.
‘They’d not taken anything else. I’d bought a sparkly, silver Christmas decoration which was there!’
At first Shelley did not tell Eliott what the thieves, who she described as ‘scumbags’, had done.

But she has now gone public with her appeal and is urging people to look out for the bike on selling sites or pass information to the police.
Despite her ordeal, Shelley praised the paramedics who navigated rough, hilly terrain to get to Eliott.
‘We were really impressed with how they treated him,’ she added.
‘They were brilliant.’
