Trump Facebook ban to last for 2 years, leaves Trump furious

Trump facebook ban leaves the former president furious with a Facebook ban, saying it’s an ‘insult’ to US voters and more dinners for Zuckerberg. Suggesting draconian measures are being put in place by social media giants in order to curb voter freedom and freedom of speech.

They want to do as much to keep him out of the WhiteHouse, especially when it comes to publishing news from other mediums and he wanted to drive limit the power of the social media giants and have more governance in place, but he was unable to push those policies through during his first term.

On Friday Facebook has announced they would not lift the suspension of Trump’s account. It was suspended the day after the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots, determining he had incited violence. That suspension will last at least two years from the date of the initial block and would only be lifted if the risk to public safety has receded, Facebook said on Friday.

This new timeline denies Republican Trump a major social media megaphone ahead of the November 2022 congressional elections. However, it means he may be able to return to Facebook well before the next presidential election in late 2024.

Donald Trump added, “Next time I’m in the White House there will be no more dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will be all business!”

Trump has been permanently banned by Twitter too and remains suspended by YouTube after the riot. But so far that hasn’t stopped the former President from continuing his drive to stand for the next US elections already trending Trump 2024.

Facebook also added that there would be a set of escalating sanctions that would be triggered if Trump broke further rules that could lead to his permanent removal.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, speaking to reporters, said of Facebook’s decision on Trump that it felt “pretty unlikely that the zebra is going to change his stripes over the next two years, we’ll see.”
