You might need to wait a bit before a new legend joins the game (pic: EA)
A new character usually always joins Apex Legends at the start of each season, but this might not be the case for Season 16.
There are currently over 20 characters to choose from in Apex Legends, all with different offensive, defensive, support, and recon abilities.
The latest character, Catalyst, was added at the start of Season 15 and as usual you had to pay 12,000 legend tokens to unlock her.
However, when Season 16 launches around Valentine’s Day, you might find that there are no new legends being added to the rotation.
This information surfaced when leaker Thordan Smash commented on a Reddit post, that he thinks that the upcoming season won’t feature a new legend.
Although he didn’t specify where he got his information from, in the past he has mentioned that all his leaks come from EA/Respawn insiders.
As it was, the Reddit post that Thordan Smash replied to was already speculating that a new character named Caliber or Ballistic appeared on a banner in-game, when actually it was just an existing skin for Crypto.
If you’ve followed Apex Legends leaks in the past, you’d have seen Caliber being mentioned as an upcoming character, amongst five other new legends.
Both Ash and Catalyst, which are already part of the game, were also leaked long before their official unveiling.
Thordan Smash’s leak could have some truth to it, as developers have also stated that they’re aware of the ‘threat’ of having too many characters in the battle royale.
Slowing down the release of new legends would also give the developers time to create new, more unique characters, to further push the meta forward.
The same leaker has also claimed that World’s Edge will go through a total makeover in Season 16, in particular the Fragment area, where many players end up landing for the first time – which often causes a bloodbath, particularly for less experienced players.

EA hasn’t commented on the leaks, nor has it revealed anything else about Season 16, as the focus is on the ongoing Wintertide event.
However, senior producer Josh Medina did address players’ criticisms over the lack of next gen console support and cross-progression, after tweeting they’d be out by now over a year ago.
Medina acknowledged he ‘messed up’ by making promises to fans and then confirmed that both the features are still in the works.
But In all honesty I messed up tweeting that last year and it’s constantly brought up and i have eat the crow from my words..
I look forward to the announcement of these things when they are done and ready until then y’all can keep clowning me and me only
