Liz Truss hates free speech
Liz Truss – Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister – threw any almighty strop onstage when campaign group, Led By Donkeys, dropped a banner reading “I crashed the economy” behind Liz as she attempted to criticise Joe Biden’s handling of the US economy.
And despite it being hilarious. Liz Truss did not find it funny.
If you’ve managed to put the excruciating era of Liz Truss out of your mind, let us give you a quick recap of her 49 days in office.
Truss’s time as prime minister began with the death of Queen Elizabeth. Following a period of public mourning, Truss kickstarted her premiership by proposing a radical agenda that she claimed was designed to get Britain’s economy working. That agenda included £45bn of unfunded tax cuts. She had to row back on those plans almost immediately after the polar opposite happened. Her proposals triggered an immediate economic meltdown from which she never recovered. Her mini-Bidget was widely blamed for reducing the value of the pound and panicking financial markets. She announced her resignation just 45 days into the role and was officially out of office after 49 days.
After the mess of the mini-Bidget, a national tabloid live-streamed an iceberg lettuce next to a picture of Truss, seeking to answer one important question. Which will last longer: a lettuce or Liz Truss’s time as the UK’s prime minister.
It was silly and simple and quite brilliant. It turned Truss into the biggest laughing stock – on a global scale – and means the former PM will forever see her face next to images of lettuces.
Despite being globally lauded as a failure, somehow Liz Truss is going around doing interviews trying to flog her book about how to save the West.
Liz Truss is someone who reportedly loves free speech. A few hours before this prank, Truss had backed Elon Musk in his decision to let X users stir up hate even if it meant spreading misinformation, even if that misinformation led to far-right rioting on the streets of Britain. She backed X user’s right to say whatever they like all in the name of free speech. So why was she such a baby when others exercised their own free speech?
I am appalled by the attacks on free speech in Britain and Europe.

We can't be truly free without free speech.
Good for @elonmusk and @X for standing up to these bullies.
Riots and racism are one thing, but making Liz Truss look like a fool with a banner of lettuce reminding people she crashed the economy is a step too far for Truss.
According to Truss, the prank was an attempt to “suppress free speech” (hers) and not them exercising their free speech.
The problem with people like Liz Truss and Elon Musk is simple. They don’t want free speech for all but a place for them to be able to say whatever they want without consequences. They want to be able to spread misinformation and hate freely. They have found that with X. It’s not about free speech it has always been about bullying and now the entire network is deep in the gutter of hate and misery and the normal people have left.
