A homeless man’s tent was set alight just days after a gang chased him down the street.
The man, known as Anthony, was thought to be sleeping in it when it was torched, destroying all of his possessions.
He was planning to move away from Cleethorpes promenade, Lincolnshire, fearing something like this may happen.
Anthony had to buy a smaller tent because of the trouble, but that too was lost in the fire.
Locals are now trying to raise some money to get him a new one in time for Christmas.
Resident Aaron Goss said he was driving along the promenade when he saw Anthony ‘stood staring at what was once his everything’. ‘It was not a good feeling,’ he added.
He appealed for help on Facebook, saying it didn’t matter what people’s views on homelessness were, this was about ‘humanity, to our fellow man’ at Christmas.

‘I do believe that between us we can get him some possessions and, if we have enough, provide it to others too,’ he said.
‘I’ve sorted him the option of a B&B for tonight, but it’s a short term solution.’
He added: ‘I’ve also driven past before and seen him litter-picking to ensure the area was clean. He even wanted the option to clean up the mess tonight immediately.’
Several people have answered Aaron’s call for aid, including Lianne Davidson who offered two big bags full of men’s clothes.
Joanne Houghton added: ‘I’m not from Cleethorpes, but I have seen him a couple of times on the prom when I visit and he’s never caused anyone any trouble, some “people” are just heartless.’
