A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred in the province of Cosenza with its epicenter in the municipality of Mangone. INGV announced this, explaining that the earthquake occurred at 00.54 at a depth of 20 kilometres.
A second shock of magnitude 2.0 was detected at 1.16 with an epicenter 4 km east of Mangone. The earthquake was felt in Cosenza city, but also in Rende and neighboring towns where citizens were woken up in the middle of the night and some even took to the streets.
