Hong Kong rules ban on face mask unconstitutional
Arab News reports a government ban on protestors wearing face masks, aimed at helping to bring an end to months of pro-democracy unrest in Hong Kong, has been ruled unconstitutional. The ruling came on Monday from the territory’s high court.
“The restrictions it imposes on fundamental rights… go further than is reasonably necessary…and therefore fail to meet the proportionality test,” the court said, according to a press summary.

Fresno mass shooting: At least 9 shot at a football-watching party in California
CNN says at least nine people were shot at a football watch party in California on Sunday night. The victims were attending a family and friends gathering in the garden of a home when an unknown suspect approached and opened fire, said police.
Officers attended the home at around 6 pm. Officers and first responders found multiple victims, including some dead but it is unclear how many people were killed.

Officer killed, police station stormed by protesters amid anti-fuel hike rallies in Iran
RT News says a police officer has died after being injured during unrest in Iran. He attempted to defend a city police command that was invaded by an angry mob, according to local media.
The incident took place in the city of Kermanshah which saw major demonstrations on Saturday. One such rally spiralled into violent clashes between protesters and the police and ended with an armed mob storming into the police station.
The attack on the police station was not an isolated incident, protests sparked by a rise in gas prices have grown violent.

Prince Andrew stands by ‘car-crash’ Jeffery Epstein BBC interview
BBC News says Prince Andrew stands by his decision to take part in an interview about his links to Jeffery Epstein, sources have told the BBC.
According to people close to the Duke, Andrew wanted to address the issues head-on and did so with “honesty and humility.” But some have described Andrew’s interview on BBC Newsnight as a “car-crash.”
In the interview, the prince denied having sex with a then 17-year-old girl. A lawyer for some of Epstein’s victims has urged the prince to speak under oath to US authorities.
