New York is a state in the United States of America (USA). It borders New England and has an international border with Canada. 

The state is home to 19.7 million residents and is the fourth most populous state in the United States. 

Albany is the capital city of the U.S. state of New York. The state is also home to the world-famous New York City (the most populous city in the United States) and a major entertainment and financial hub, a common destination for tourism. 

Until the 1960s New York was the country’s leading state in nearly all population, cultural, and economic indexes. California soon took over New York but that was due to the endurance growth rate that has persisted on the West Coast rather than a decline in New York.
