Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal to go ‘all out’ in the January transfer window and sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The Magpies could be forced into selling one of their star players after the club confirmed losses of £150m in their latest financial reports.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are desperate to land a new striker and have been linked to Isak with a move for their top target Ivan Toney thought to be unlikely.

Isak has impressed this season with the Sweden international registering 10 Premier League goals across 16 appearances.

‘Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly [against Manchester City], if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him,’ Ferdinand said on his FIVE podcast.

The former Manchester United defender was challenged by that remark due to how much Isak would cost but he added: ‘Why? They can’t spend… they’re struggling with [profit and sustainability rules].

‘I think there’s another jump up before [he goes to a club like Real Madrid]. I saw somewhere they have to sell before they can buy again.’

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was asked about Arsenal’s interest in Isak on Saturday and admitted that the 24-year-old has ‘so much more to offer’.

‘He can go on to achieve incredible things in his career,’ Howe said about Isak. ‘He’s still getting back to 100 per cent fit, he is not totally there yet after his injury troubles this season.

‘But the last two performances and the goals he has scored offers a glimpse into his capabilities.’

Arsenal and Liverpool will be ‘looking over their shoulders’ and fearing Manchester City after the side’s comeback against Newcastle United.

That’s according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who says Kevin De Bruyne’s return to fitness is a huge boost to City’s title chances.

City took the lead in the north-east before goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon put Newcastle in front.

However, the game spun with 20 minutes left when De Bruyne was introduced from the bench.

The Belgian scored a sensational placed finish 15 minutes from time, and set-up the winner in injury time with a phenomenal pass for Oscar Bobb.

It was a crushing blow to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, who have witnessed City win five of their last six matches without star man Erling Haaland.

And Ferdinand says the title hopefuls will now be fearing City as they’ve hit their rhythm.

‘Pep Guardiola, very rarely do you see him as animated as he was today,’Ferdinand said on TNT Sports. ‘I’ll tell you one thing, that man there (De Bruyne), you’re back, you are back. You are the jewel in the crown, you’re back.

‘Watch momentum kick in now and these guys know what to do.‘These guys know when to put the pedal to the floor and it looks like now everybody is going to be looking over their shoulders and looking around and saying, they are coming.

‘They know how to get the job done, they have the experience, the depth, the class, the quality and the firepower. Formidable.’

Roy Keane fears for Manchester United (Picture: SkySports)

Manchester United legend Roy Keane says his former side have little chance against Liverpool today after exposing the side’s ‘biggest worry’.

United travel to Anfield after a torrid week in which they’ve lost to Bournemouth and crashed out of Europe.

The pressure is building on Erik ten Hag, and he needs a performance on Merseyside to win over an increasing number of doubters.

United have scored just once in the last eight years at Anfield, and they were beaten 7-0 there last season.

But Keane says it’s United’s lack of goals that are the ‘biggest worry’ and he doesn’t see that changing today.

Asked if United could win today, ‘No, not with their form. Gary mentioned there’s always a bit of hope but is there enough belief in the dressing room? In the manager and his staff? We get stats thrown at us every week and the stats are very, very bad for Manchester United at the moment. ‘But they have to turn up as a team today, they haven’t been turning up as a team. The noises coming out after the Bournemouth game last week was that they thought Bournemouth weren’t going to be that good. Every week there’s an issue with United. They’ve had injury problems. There’s talk of a takeover. People are always looking for answers outside the club but sometimes you’ve got to look at within the dressing room. The players have to find the answer today within the dressing room. ‘There’s guys who aren’t involved, some senior players. But find something from within. It doesn’t look good. You don’t think for one second they’ll come in and win in the form Liverpool are in. But they have to find the form from somewhere. ‘They have to be solid, the goalkeeper will have to play well but the biggest worry for me when I look at United is the lack of goals. It’s a big, big issue. They’re poor at the back but they’ve had their injury problems. But the lack of goals from this team makes it very very difficult.’
