Beauty lovers have been seriously losing it at how well this mascara performs, so we thought we’d put it to the test and see what the fuss was about.
Mascaras are like busses: there’s loads of them and they’re kind of a must-have, but sometimes they just don’t show up for you (bet you thought that metaphor was a tenuous link).
Spending a bomb on a mascara only to find that it clumps, flakes and leaves your lashes limp and lifeless is a complete drag, so naturally you want to be really sure when you’re buying that it’ll be worth your buck.
This one from Benefit, however, has so many positive reviews that it’s hard to not trust it. In fact, one reviewer has even advised us to: ‘Throw your other mascaras out!’. Tempting.
Benefit’s Fan Fest Fanning Volumising Mascara has been taking shoppers by storm since its launch, claiming it amplifies volume and multiplies the look of lashes for an instant eye-opening effect.
In fact, shoppers have been more than fans of the Fan Fest Mascara, with one reviewer writing: ‘I’m a groupie for this mascara!’
Benefit Fan Fest Fanning Volumising Mascara
Combining cutting-edge technology with a touch of glamour, this mascara is designed to give you voluminous, fanned-out lashes sure to steal the spotlight.
The makeup essential boasts a custom-engineered Full-Flex Fiber Brush that has a 40° curve, working to lift the lashes from root-to-tip and reaching from corner-to-corner.
It also features naturally derived flex-wave fibres that grab, define and separate your lashes cleanly and evenly for an absolute fan fest – as its namesake suggests.
This lengthening and volumising fanning effect is also completely buildable while feeling utterly weightless with none of the dreaded clumping, smudging or flaking that drives you round the twist.
And that zero-smudge effect is the real deal – Benefit claims the mascara is sweat-proof, water-resistant and humidity-proof, so whether you’re letting out your Monday anger in boxing class, getting romantically caught in the rain or getting hot somewhere else (…), you’re still guaranteed perfect lashes.
As we mentioned before, shoppers just adore the thing, writing: ‘I love this wonderful mascara. It makes my lashes incredibly long and thicker thanks to its wand with a curved brush. It doesn’t smudge or clump. Flake- free throughout the day. Highly recommend it.’

Now I’ll be brutally honest, as a beauty fanatic myself I’m always trying out new mascaras hoping they’ll work, only to find myself bitterly disappointed.
My lashes are naturally short and straight (thanks mama), struggle to hold curl and clump easily. When a mascara says length and volume I usually just assume that wont be the case for my ‘lil stumpies.
Short lash girlies, I’m here with you, I hear you, I see you.
So, when I saw the rave reviews of the Fan Fest Fanning Volumising Mascara from Benefit, I was sceptical.
Turns out my scepticism was a waste of time.
Not only did the mascara coat each individual lash for that dark, volumised look, it also lengthened them, delivering that promised fanning effect and giving me a false lash look I rarely manage to enjoy with any old mascara.
I mean, my before and after pictures speak for themselves. My lashes are longer, curlier and definitely giving Fan Fest. Overall? I love it. It’s up there with one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used, overtaking my fav Benefit BADGal BANG! – and nothing ever beats that.

You could say I’m now a convert. And it turns out I’m not the only one who experienced some pretty great results with the mascara.
In a self-evaluation by 119 participants, after one week 92% said the mascara gave them a full-fan effect, 97% agreed their lashes looked defined and 92% agreed their lashes looked separated.
I mean, what more persuasion do you need? It’s a 10/10 from us.
It’s so good it even has groupies.
