    As summer finally gets going, here are the UK’s prettiest pubs – with four in London

    The humble pub is almost as synonymous with British culture as afternoon tea and the Royal Family.

    Whether its soaking up the last of the summer sun in a beer garden or having a meal with family and friends, its likely that a large portion of us can be found whiling away our weekends in our favourite local.

    If taking an insta worthy snap of your Sunday roast is a key part of your pub experience – or if you just enjoy the finer things in life- then you may be interested to know which pubs CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) has voted the prettiest in the UK in its Pub Design Awards.

    Here’s the full list of winners – including four from the capital.

    The Cadogan Arms

    This Chelsea gem underwent a hefty renovation in 2021, which restored the pub – which dates back to the early-Georgian era- to its former glory.

    Chandeliers hang from an ornate wooden ceiling, while the pub’s exterior is adorned with an abudance of beautiful flower displays.

    The venue serves everything from carefully selected beers to exquistely fancy looking cocktails, making it perfect for both casual and special occasions and its food menu celebrates the best of British produce.

    The Cadogan Arms won the Refurbishment award at the Pub Design Awards.

    The George

    The George is a grade II listed building, which has also had an amibitious renovation in recent years.

    The pub has kept many of its original features, for example its beautiful Victorian mirrors and striking dark oak panelling.

    According to the venue’s website, The George was both a central hub for the political, cultural and social movements of the late 18th century and home to writers and poets in the 20th century.

    The pub serves an extensive selection of wines, spirits (with a focus on Irish Whiskey) beer and cocktails, so there’s bound to be something for everyone.

    The George was highly commended in the Design Pub Awards refurbishment category.

    The Black Lion

    The Black Lion is another Grade II listed building , with the Kilburn venue dating back to 1898.

    The venue’s floor to ceiling ornate wooden panelling is transports you back in time, whilst lanterns suspended from the ceiling give the venue an incredibly cosy feel.

    As well as an extensive drinks menu, including a plethora or real ales, The Black Lion also serves North Indian inspired cuisine.

    The pub won the Historic England Conservation Award at the Pub Design Awards.

    Location: 274 Kilburn High Road, Kilburn, London NW6 2BY

    Spread Eagle

    The final London pub featured in the awards is Wandsworth establishment Spread Eagle.

    This stunning hotel and pub is yet another Grade II listed building which has recently been restored.

    Some of the pub’s feature highlights are its ornate Victorian glass bar back, stunning picture galleries and the detailed map of London etched into the bathroom windows.

    It has a great selection of beer and ales and serves food made from the finish British ingredients.

    Spread Eagle was highly commended in the Historic England Conservation category at the Pub Design Awards.
