Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has named two players he would like to see join Mikel Arteta’s side in January to help ease the loss of Gabriel Jesus.
The Gunners are set to be without star forward Jesus for several months after the Brazil international picked up a knee injury during the World Cup.
It means that the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli will have to really step up to the mark if Arsenal are to maintain their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
There are reports that Arteta may look to bring in some forward reinforcements when the transfer window opens in less than two weeks time, with Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk heavily linked with the Emirates.
Campbell though believes Arsenal should target Marcus Thuram, who recently assisted Kylian Mbappe for France’s second goal in their World Cup final defeat to Argentina last Sunday.
The 25-year-old, son of legendary defender Lilian Thuram, has developed into a great forward for Borussia Monchengladbach, with 41 goals and 26 assists in 119 games for the Bundesliga side.
‘I think he [Thuram] could be a good addition,’ Campbell told the Highbury Squad podcast.

‘Someone who can play across the front and someone who can give us a bit of physical presence up there because, although Eddie has been working on his physique and looks a bit stronger, [he is] somebody who is bigger, stronger, somebody more physical.
‘That will keep defences on their toes, that’s for sure. It will be a fair deal because it will be pretty cheap because he has only got six months left on his contact, so it could be a good deal to be done.’
Thuram has been linked with a number of clubs including Tottenham, Inter Milan and Manchester United, where he has been touted to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
In addition to the Frenchman, Campbell also had his say on the reports linking Arsenal to Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic, who seems destined to leave Stamford Bridge next month.
‘If Arsenal have got a chance of signing him, for me, I would bring him in,’ Campbell said of the USA international who also impressed at Qatar 2022.
The pacy winger does not appear to be in Graham Potter’s plans but has been tipped to remain in England, with Arsenal, United and Newcastle all said to be interested in the 24-year-old.
