Andrew Cuomo: ‘Nothing will happen’ Democrats are ‘a protected class’

Andrew Cuomo's spectacular fall from grace

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is facing intense calls for him to resign following the release of an independent report that found Mr Cuomo had sexually harassed 11 women.

The report follows a 5-month investigation in which tens of thousands of documents, texts and pictures were reviewed and investigators spoke to almost 200 people.

Several women came forward last year with allegations and although Mr Cuomo was able to ride the backlash with a series of apologies and denials, the release of the report appears to have sealed his fate.

Democrats are publicly distancing themselves from the once liberal icon, who gained more prominence over the pandemic, and now the President has publicly called for Cuomo’s resignation.

Despite facing backlash from across the political spectrum, Mr Cuomo has said he has no plans to leave his job.

    ………………….

The allegations against Andrew Cuomo were:

Eight women say he made offensive, condescending or sexual comments

Seven women say he inappropriately touched or groped them at least once

Four women allege he kissed them without consent

    Democrats are ‘a protected class’

    ‘I’m not convinced’

FOX NEWS reports on Dan Bongino’s comments on “The Dan Bongino Show” where he said he believed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is unlikely to face ‘true justice’ if a criminal proceeding happens and he is found guilty of any crimes because Democrats are rarely if ever held responsible for their actions.

Bongino told his listeners that Democrats in Cuomo’s position aren’t covered well by the media or usually get off scot-free.

“I’m not convinced anything is going to happen to Andrew Cuomo at all,” he said. “remember if there’s even a whisper campaign like there was against Brett Kavanaugh – stories you knew were B.S. – they guy was like a choir boy — he’s a Republican so he has to be taken apart.”

“Andrew Cuomo is a protected class – he’s a Democrat,” the Fox News host continued.

'History is on Andrew Cuomo’s side and he knows it'

    ‘Deny, Deny, Deny’

The INDEPENDENT’s take on the Andrew Cuomo scandal suggests the New York governor has ‘more than enough reason to believe these allegations against him will be ignored. After all, it’s worked for so many people before him.’

The paper suggests when the allegations of serial sexual harassment began to pile up against Mr Cuomo as well as the emerging scandals related to his handling of the pandemic, some ‘intelligent people’ suggested that the disgrace migt be great enough to force a resignation.

Whilst there have been plenty of calls across the political spectrum for his resignation, this prediction was profoundly naive, the Independent says. And even with the official investigation report uncovering a pattern of sexual harassment and even assault, ‘it’s hard to believe the outcome will be any different.’

Cuomo’s personal brand is old-school outer-borough toxic he-man of the highest order, and he follows the same tried-and-true accountability strategy of “deny, deny, deny” that former president Trump is also fond of. Because it works.

The paper says Cuomo knows he can simply ‘wait out the news cycle’ and efforts to impeach him or force him out may seem “more onerous than garden-variety sexual assault is worth — regardless of the trauma and harm his actions have caused to others.”

Andrew Cuomo didn’t act alone his inner circle enabled him

‘They should go down with their leader.’

NY MAG INTELLIGENCER  says to survive Andrew Cuomo’s orbit it requires ‘more than competence. The article says young staffers are expendable and to ‘make it’ in Cumoland you need to be loyal.

The ‘meat of the damning report into Cuomo’s sexual harassment’ made it clear that a number of aides had been enablers of Cuomo’s predatory behaviour.

Alphonso David – Cumo’s former counsel – forwarded along confidential records of Lindsey Boylan, the former aide who accused Cuomo of forcibly killing her. Richard Azzapardi then sent them to newspaper reporters in an attempt to smear Boylan in the press.

There was also Melissa DeRosa who plotted the way forward for her beleaguered boss. Spin is “full-throated emotional apology,” DeRosa wrote on March 3, the day Cuomo delivered a video where he seemed to hold back tears, apologizing for making his accusers feel uncomfortable.

The article says at every turn DeRosa and her colleagues enabled Cuomo’s behaviour and there would be no Cuomo – to this degree – without his inner circle.

With few exceptions, those closest to Cuomo were imbued with his darkest impulses, prone to screaming fits that disturbed legislators, reporters, and anyone who came into close contact with his government.

His brother is CNN anchor Chris Cuomo. The governor’s appearances on his brother’s CNN show, Cuomo Prime Time, are highly-anticipated after they started hilariously sparring on camera. One March interview ended with the brothers arguing about who needs to call their mother next. Chris called his brother a “liar who ruined the credibility of the interview” for saying he already spoke to their mom. During another interview, he pestered his brother about whether or not he’d run for president. The governor called him “the meatball of the family.” You need to watch this immediately.
