Hamas releases Thai hostages as Israel waits for 13 to be freed
13 women and children, who were kidnapped by Hamas during the attacks of 7 October, have been handed to the Red Cross, according to the Israeli military.
Their release comes after 12 Thai hostages who were taken from Israel were also freed by the militants.
The release is part of a temporary ceasefire deal. In exchange for hostages released, Israel will free 39 Palestinian detainees held in Israeli jails, to the West Bank.
The deal has been mediated by Qatar, it includes a four-day pause in the fighting.
In total, 50 hostages and 150 Palestinian detainees will be released over the four days.
More aid is heading into Gaza, as 60 lorries carrying medical supplies, fuel and food entered today from Egypt.
Since Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping around 240, more than 14,000 Gazans have died due to Israel’s retaliatory campaign.
