Khloe Kardashian photo scandal
Khloe Kardashian’s team is said to be “desperate to scrub an unedited bikini pic from the internet” after fans accused the star of editing her photos.
Khloe says she has every right to edit her pictures (very true) and she will continue to edit. She opened up about being referred to as the ‘ugly’ and ‘fat’ sister and how hard it is to live up to beauty standards.
It’s worth acknowledging the Kardashians have played a major role in creating unachievable beauty standards for years. By heavily editing themselves online they’ve done nothing but contribute to it.
In defence of Khloe Kardashian scrubbing the internet of her unfiltered bikini shot
The Telegraph defends Khloe’s choice to edit her pictures.
She’s been body-shamed and called ‘the fat sister’ for most of her adult life. It is no surprise Khloe is reluctant to share unedited photos
Sonia Haria says her first reaction to the ‘media storm’ was one of sadness. That this 36-year-old is so embarrassed by this picture. But she’s had to deal with more body shaming in the past 10 years than anyone should have to deal with – so is it any surprise she freaked out at having an unfiltered or unretouched image surface?
Being in the public eye she is open to negative scrutiny, but to have constant analysis over your body on a daily basis is surely going to give you a warped perception and controlling attitude towards your self-image. She has been body-shamed for most of her adult life, both as a ‘heavier’ woman and a toned woman. It’s understandable and very sad, the panic she probably felt looking less than perfect on social media when it’s her business and livelihood.
In an ideal world we should be celebrating our unfiltered selves, and want the same from those in the public eye. And it would be brilliant if the Kardashians broke free of their controlled-to-within-an-inch-of-their-lives public personas, especially for their many millions of Gen Z followers who live their lives on social media and are hit by these unattainable standards of beauty on a daily basis.
But I can understand why this picture caused such a panic for Khloe. After so much constant scrutiny over her body, her weight, and comparisons to her sisters, of course, you’re going to be anxious about any images that surface that doesn’t fit into your controlled brand image. Now is not the time to tear this woman down, when the body-shaming she’s had to endure for so many years is the reason why she’s so frightened to share a naturally beautiful photograph.
Kardashian are prone to photo editing
A candid picture of Khloe has proven just how rarely we see the family unedited, but they don’t always get it right.
Fans praised the refreshing image of Khloe smiling in the sun, with the family having a very different reaction as it strays from the Kardashians’ usual highly curated social media presence.
But the mega-famous family’s idea of perfection often comes at a price, with eagle-eyed fans regularly pointing out embarrassing gaffes in their editing.
NEWS looks at some of their photoshop fails.
Back in 2017 Kim flipped the narrative, saying paparazzi had doctored a bikini photo of her to make her look “way worse.” The image featured Kim in a bikini with cruel critics pointing out her cellulite.
The supermodel of the family, Kendall has been slammed for years for promoting ‘unrealistic body standards.’ She is not immune to fans spotting unusual details in her snaps. In February, she attracted backlash after posting heavily edited pictures of herself.
“Please don’t compare yourself to heavily edited images. Even Kendall doesn’t look like this irl.”
The infamous picture of Khloe looking like an entirely different person made headlines last year. It was thought she had gone under the knife but became clear later on it was just heavy Instagram editing.
“WAIT it was just Photoshop all along? I really thought she had done a whole face transplant,”
In one of their biggest photoshop fails, they added extra toes and missing bodies. For their KUWTK season 6 promo, they were called out again. Khloe‘s lower body is missing, Kendall looks like she’d been photoshopped into the image and Kourtney’s foot featured some extra toes.
Khloe Kardashian’s deep-rooted despair over unedited photo as she denies surgery
The Mirror looks at the bombshell statement from Khloe that said she had been bullied into changing every aspect of her body for years from cruel fans – and denying “paying” for her new look.
She said the “pressure, constant ridicule and judgement” of being in the public eye had been “too much to bear” as she stripped off once again to show her followers she wasn’t editing her live footage.
The Kardashian lawyers went into overdrive to get the image removed from the web, even threatening legal action against Reddit users who were sharing it and sister Kim Kardashian also took to DMing followers and asking them to take it down.
Now Khloe has hit back in a lengthy statement denying any wrongdoing and pushing the blame to those who type out hateful messages to her every day.
“Hey guys, this is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered. The photo that was posted this week is beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it to not be shared – regardless of who you are,” she wrote on Insta.
“My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable or not anymore.”
“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule and judgement my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.
“‘Khloe is the fat sister.’ ‘Khloe is the ugly sister.’ ‘Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery.’
She continued: “Oh, but who cares how she feels because she grew up in a life of privilege. She’s also on a reality show so she signed up for all of this. I’m, of course not asking for sympathy but I am asking to be acknowledged for being human.
“I am not perfect but I promise you that I try everyday to live my life as honestly as possible and with empathy and kindness. It doesn’t mean that I have not made mistakes. But I am not going to lie. It’s almost unbearable trying to live up to the impossible standards that the public have all set for me.
“For over a decade now in photos, every single flaw and imperfection has been micro-analyzed and made fun of to the smallest detail and I am reminded of them every day by the world.
“My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable or not anymore.”
Multi-billion-dollar empire from the exploitation of fake views
The Daily Mail reports Khloé Kardashian’s horror at the public finding out how she really looks lays bare how her family have built a cynical multi-billion dollar empire from the exploitation of fake views
The Kardashians have been ‘faking’ it with edited snaps for years. The accidental release of an unedited picture exposed the fakery that surrounds the Kardashian brand. And expose the ridiculous hypocrisy behind it.
In a recent episode of KUWTK, Khloé complained bitterly about people commenting on how she looks. When her own fans slammed her oddly altered physical appearance in a recent new commercial, she hit back by urging everyone to ‘start ignoring people who threaten your joy. Literally, ignore them. Say nothing. Don’t invite any parts of them into your space.’
This is a woman who literally spends her entire time posting every part of herself from her space onto a platform where 136 million people can instantly see it!
It takes a quite staggering lack of self-awareness to attack the public who’ve made you a multi-millionaire for doing exactly what you want and need them to do to make you a multi-millionaire.
But then, that’s what the Kardashians are all about.
The reason the Khloé fakery matters is that so many impressionable young girls and woman strive to look the way they think the Kardashians look, from recklessly starving themselves to get the same fake waists, to using similar filters and photo-shopping to post equally unrealistic images of themselves.
Their desperation to emulate their fraudulent idols causes huge mental health issues including anxiety, depression and worse.
And that malevolent influence is compounded by the horrible message the Kardashians sell – that stripping off and exposing your private life to maximum lurid public attention is the route to success, fame, and fortune.
The Kardashians know how damaging this is, yet still, they do it without a thought for the harm they cause.
It’s frankly tragic to see how terrified Khloé Kardashian was by the thought people might know what she really looks like. Tragic for her, and for a society that increasingly values unreality over reality.
