BREXIT: QUEEN APPROVES PARLIAMENT SHUT DOWN
BBC News reports the Queen has approved Boris Johnson’s request to suspend parliament. It will start just weeks before the Brexit deadline. Parliament will be suspended just days after MPs return from their summer break in September. Prime Minister Johnson confirmed a Queen’s Speech will take place on 14 October to outline his “very exciting agenda.” However, parliament suspension now means the time MPs have to stop a no-deal Brexit on 31 October will be cut. There has been a widespread backlash to suspending parliament. The House of Commons Speaker, who doesn’t comment on political announcements, said it was a “constitutional outrage.” Adding, it stops MPs debating Brexit and “performing its duty in shaping a course for the country.”

CROSS-PARTY REBEL ALLIANCE GEARS UP FOR BREXIT CLASH
The Guardian says Rebel MPs from across the political spectrum are getting ready for a historic parliamentary clash. It comes after Boris Johnson announced he will suspend parliament in the run-up to Brexit. Johnson will suspend parliament for five crucial weeks. On Wednesday, Tory and opposition MPs took part in a series of conference calls in an attempt to prevent a no-deal. The cross-party rebel alliance agreed to focus on fast-tracking legislation aimed at mandating the PM to request an extension to article 50 if he is unable to strike a new deal by mid-October.

SCOTTISH TORY LEADER SET TO QUIT OVER BORIS’ BREXIT PLANS
The Sun reports Ruth Davidson is set to quit as the Tories’ leader in Scotland. Insiders say Davidson is to stand down due to pressures of motherhood and because she’s “increasingly at odds” with PM Boris Johnson. A source said: “Ruth will be making her position clear shortly.” She is expected to confirm the news in a statement tomorrow. She has been the leader of the Scottish Conservatives since November 2011. And is widely credited with turning the party around in Scotland. Previously, she was tipped as a future UK Tory leader – but ruled out the move shortly before she gave birth to her son in October.
