Donald Trump wants to end Putin’s war quickly – but under what conditions? Ukrainian President Zelenskyj is signaling a willingness to compromise with a new proposal.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Western allies to provide NATO protection for the parts of the country controlled by Kyiv – and signalled a willingness to wait before regaining the Russian-occupied territories. “If we want to end the hot phase of the war, we should place the area of Ukraine that we control under a NATO protective umbrella,” Zelensky said on Friday on the British television channel Sky News  .

“This must happen quickly, and then Ukraine can regain the remaining parts of its territory in a diplomatic manner,” the Ukrainian president added.
