US: ATTACK THREATS PROMPT ARRESTS IN 2 STATES
Aljazeera News says two men with large catches of firearms have been arrested. The men, one in California and another in Wisconsin, are accused of threatening to attack their workplaces. Rodolfo Montaya, 37 was arrested on Tuesday by Californian police after he threatened to attack the hotel where he worked. He was upset over an employment-related issue. Police said they found a collection of weapons at his home. Amongst them were illegal high-capacity magazines and an assault rifle. Over in Wisconsin, Kevin Pinkham, 31, was arrested on Tuesday after telling a coworker “I’m going to shoot this place up.” Multiple employees at the distribution centre where Mr Pinkham works “feared for their lives based on the defendant’s threats.” Several rifles, handguns and ammunition were found in his home and a loaded pistol in his car.

HONG KONG: YOUTUBE SHUTS ACCOUNTS LINKED TO PROTEST MISINFORMATION
CNBC says Google has shut 210 Youtube channels after it found it has been tied to misinformation about Hong Kong protesters. Twitter and Facebook took similar action earlier this week after they announced they would suspend nearly 1,000 accounts linked to a state-backed misinformation campaign started inside China. Google stopped short of blaming the Chinese government for the misleading accounts. Ahead of the 2020 US presidential elections, lawmakers have scrutinised Google and Youtube for its ability to control misinformation that goes viral on its site.

POLAND: THUNDERSTORM KILLS 4, INJURES OVER 100
Reuters reports four people have died and more than 100 injured during a thunderstorm in Poland’s Tatra mountains on Thursday. Of the four killed, two of them were children. The storm claimed the life of a fifth person in neighbouring Slokavia, mountain rescue services reported. Tourists climbing the Giewont mountain in Poland were hit by lightning after the sunny morning turned stormy. A 15-metre iron cross sits on the mountain and is said to attract lightning. Amongst those in danger were two cavers who became trapped in the Tatra mountains after a tunnel flooded and blocked their exit. More than two dozen rescuers were trying to save them.
