‘WHAT GRETA SAID!” KIWI SCHOOLCHILDREN STRIKE FOR CLIMATE
France 24 says more than 40,000 people stood in the grounds of Wellington’s parliament buildings, striking for the climate. Friday’s turnout was the largest seen in New Zealand. School children and elderly protest veterans marched along with signs saying “Denial = Death”, “We’re skipping school to teach YOU a lesson and “What Greta said!” New Zealander James Capie, 13 said: “People do have every right to be angry. My generation shouldn’t be out here missing school.” Adding: “But it’s really important to me that we’re out here making a stand against other generations that have really screwed over our planet.”

200 TROOPS, 4 RADARS, 1 PATRIOT BATTERY: PENTAGON ANNOUNCES SAUDI ARABIA DEPLOYMENT DETAILS
RT News says the US is sending 200 troops, 4 Sentinel radars and a Patriot missile battery to Saudi Arabia. Adding to a region already on edge due to the US pressure campaign. In addition to the items being sent, more is on standby according to a pentagon spokesman. The last few months have seen the US sending a steady stream of military assets to the Kingdom as part of the “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. Tehran has said any attack on its territory would be met with a disproportionate and devastating response against both US assets and allies like Saudi Arabia.

KENYANS RUSH TO SWAP BANKNOTES AS CASH BAN LOOMS
Arab News reports in an attempt to flush out dirty money, a new print of the 1,000 shilling notes was rolled out in June. Now as the deadline for the old notes looms, Kenyans are desperately trying to offload their old cash notes. The operation is aimed at flushing out fake money being hoarded by tax evaders, crooked businessmen and criminal groups. Large deposits of the old notes raise alarm bells at banks and require paperwork to prove their origin. Kenyan economist Aly-Khan Satchu said devaluing these bills works by “taking its owners by surprise.” Adding: “Four months is a short period of time when you want to launder big sums of money.” But people are coming up with creative schemes to unload their cash without being detected.
