CHILEAN STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED AROUND COUNTRY AFTER DEADLY RIOTS
France 24 reports Chiles government will extend a state of emergency to cities in its north and south after at least seven people died amid violent clashes and arson attacks over the weekend. Andres Chadwick said in a press conference, the decision to extend the emergency measure came amid an “escalation of violence and vandalism” after two weeks of student protests over public transport fare rises. He reported of 70 “serious incidents of violence” on Sunday, including 40 lootings of supermarkets and other businesses, and confirmed military and police numbers were at 10,500 in Santiago and would be reinforced where necessary.

LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND? US FORCES DESTROY OWN AIRFIELD, EQUIPMENT AS THEY FLEE NORTHERN SYRIA
RT News says retreating US troops have bombed their base and landing strip near the town of Tell Tamer in northern Syria and destroyed equipment at another. The airfield, located at the Turkish border was capable of accepting large military transport planes and helicopters. But the US blew up the airstrip – probably to stop the rightful owners of the land from using it. It has been reported Syrian Army entered Tell Tamer just as US troops were withdrawing. The US has also reportedly blown up a radar on Mount Abdulaziz as well as some of their facilities in Hasaka, before heading out towards the Syrian border with Iraq.

INDIA, PAKISTAN TRADE BARBS OVER DEADLY KASHMIR CLASH
Aljazeera News says India and Pakistan blamed one another for cross-border shelling in the disputed Kashmir region which killed and injured soldiers and civilians on both sides. It was one of the deadliest days in Kashmir since New Dehli revoked Kashmir’s special status in August. The death poll of the latest round of firing is said to be at least 10. Both sides have blamed each other’s militaries of firing across the de facto border, known as the Line of Control (LoC).
