A woman who donkey-kicked a police officer while she was drunk on Prosecco at her pregnant sister’s baby shower has been spared jail.
Chester Magistrates Court heard how the arrest triggered memories of an abusive relationship Sara Cox, 36, was once in.
According to the prosecution, upon leaving Frankie’s Bar in Chester on October 16, she hit the door multiple times and she kicked the door causing it to crack.
According to Cox’s defence, her recollection is she was flung out of the door and landed on her front. They claim people started laughing at her and that’s when she lost her temper.
The prosecution said she tried to bite and kick one police officer when they were called while shouting and swearing and so additional police officers were then called.
It was then she landed the powerful blow upon PC Lloyd-Richards’ stomach as he attempted to detain her for abusing his colleagues as she left the pub.
She told one female police officer, PC McGlynn: ‘I will batter you in five minutes. You’re a f****t.’
She also swore at passers-by and tried to attack one of them.

Cox, from Chester, had a history of drink related violence and was previously convicted of assault after spitting at one police officer and kicking another after she was drunk at the same sister’s wedding party in 2018.
She has 41 offences on her record including for racially aggravated harassment, criminal damage, and public order offences.
Probation officer Louise Baker said: ‘She is horrified by what she has done and indicates much remorse. She has been a binge drinker and in terms of the incident she had attended a bottomless brunch for her sister’s baby shower. She just drank too much and did not realise her limits.
‘She is very sorry for what she has done. In terms of the alcohol misuse she has actually stopped drinking. She has not drunk since October when this offence occurred. She does have mental health problems. She does have anxiety and takes medication for it.’
At court, she faced jail after admitting assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage and threatening behaviour.

But instead she was sentenced to a 12-month community order with requirements she undertakes 100 hours of unpaid work, participates with 25 days of rehabilitation activity with the probation service, and complies with 35 days of alcohol monitoring.
She was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to PC Lloyd-Richards, PC McGlynn and Frankie’s Bar, and pay £234 in costs and victim surcharge.
‘We are not going to send you to jail because you have done so well in the last five years,’ said the chairwoman Jane Davies.
‘Since 2018, we have not seen you and that’s good.’
Referring to the 35-day alcohol monitoring programme, Mrs Davies added: ‘That is onerous and it is over Christmas. You should know that if you can do that you can do anything.’
