Peter Kay has made his triumphant return to stand-up comedy after 12 years away with a huge 110-date tour.
Kicking things off at Manchester’s AO Arena, he performed to a sell-out crowd and was moved to tears when they greeted his entrance on stage with a standing ovation and roof-raising cheers.
‘Aw you’ll have me in bits,’ the Car Share star TV star said.
‘Lovely Manchester, you made me cry. I can’t believe I cried, where did it come from all that emotion?’
However, fans have been clamouring for his return after he stepped away from the spotlight in 2017, bar the odd unannounced appearance, cancelling his tour that year due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.
Now he’s back entertaining the crowds once more – his 2010 tour became the highest-selling comedy tour of all time after selling 1.2 million tickets – let’s take a refresher on the popular performer.

The 49-year-old was born and proudly bred in Bolton, specifically the town of Farnworth, in Greater Manchester.
Bolton was formerly a part of Lancashire, and Kay kept it local when he opted to attend Salford University to study media performance.
His accent is prominent in his instantly recognisable voice, just like that of his childhood friend, Paddy McGuinness, who rose to fame after appearances in his TV shows That Peter Kay Thing, Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.

Other famous Boltonians include Vernon Kay, BBC radio DJ Sara Cox, McFly’s Danny Jones and the late Tom Parker of The Wanted.
What is Peter Kay’s net worth in 2022?
Due to his immense popularity, the comedian has managed to amass quite the fortune, adding to his considerable estimated net worth.
In November, just ahead of embarking on his aptly-named tour Better Late Than Never, figures filed by his company, Hussein Traders, on Companies House revealed that he has a massive £22.6million in investments, and is £10.5m in profit.

‘His royalties and merchandise still tick along every year, despite his recent inactivity.
