Remembrance Day – aka Armistice Day – is on Friday, November 11 this year.
This marks the day that World War One ended in 1918 – while Remembrance Sunday usually falls a few days before or after November 11, and is often the date of numerous memorial services.
To commemorate the day – and to raise money for the people serving in the British Army and their families – the Royal British Legion sells red poppies in a variety of forms for a small sum.
We often see them worn by TV presenters, the Royal Family, and people in the street from the end of October onwards.
Usually, these poppy pins are made of paper or soft fabric, but you can also buy a sturdier pin version – or brooch version – which will stand the test of time.

You can get metal poppy pins from the Royal British Legion’s official Poppy Shop.
According to the Legion’s website, all profits from the Poppy Shop will go towards supporting the Armed Forces community.
This includes serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Prices for metal poppy pins vary – as there are numerous different types you can buy.

If a pin or brooch isn’t your thing – or a browse of the Poppy Shop hasn’t found you a favourite – you can buy other poppy-adorned items to show your support.
Jewellery, keyrings, cufflinks, bracelets and pendants, and even scarves are all available.
The Royal British Legion has been selling red poppies for nearly 100 years. Originally, poppies were made from silk and soon sold out, raising £106,000.
