Video – US to send tanks to Ukraine; Russia launch missiles in response
In a major development in the war in Ukraine, US president Joe Biden has followed in the footsteps of Britain and Germany is announcing they will be sending tanks to Ukraine.
Biden has signed off on sending 31 M1 Abrams to the war-torn country as concerns mount over a new Russian offensive this spring.
Russia has accused the West of a “blatant provocation” and said any supplied tanks would be destroyed.
Russia said it perceived the tank offer as “direct” Western involvement in the conflict. A series of missiles struck Ukraine on Thursday just a day after the US and Germany made their tank promises.
