UK weather: 12-day heatwave on its way as UK set to be hotter than Italy
Britain is set for a 12-day heatwave with temperatures expected to hit 27C making the UK hotter than the Algarve.
The heat is expected to sweep in from Spain bringing sunshine across the UK thanks to a 700 mile-wide Atlantic “hot air blob”.
Temperatures are set to soar to 27C in England next Saturday as high pressure moves in, according to NetWeather.
Most of England will enjoy temperatures of at least 26C – with only Cumbria and South West England expected to miss out.
Meanwhile, Scotland will be hotter than the Mediterranean, beating 24C Genoa, Italy.
In the North East, the heat is tipped to hit 27C, with temperatures of between 23C and 24 across Wales, and between 22C to 23C across the South West.
The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “It should be one of the best spells of summer and feel pleasantly warm.
“There should be a good deal of sunshine.”
A Met Office forecaster said: “From Monday will be mainly fine and dry, with rather warm temperatures in the West initially and more widely later in the last week of August and into September.
There will be increasing amounts of sunshine, with high pressure likely to dominate, with settled conditions.”
Temperatures will begin to rise from today, with the south of England to see roughly 24C throughout the week and into the bank holiday weekend.
London will see a peak of 25C – while the north will bask in an above-average 22C.
