Iran attempts to seize a UK oil tanker
CNN reports on Iran’s failed attempt to seize a UK oil tanker and the mighty British warship, HMS Montrose that gave the verbal warning which forced the armed Iranian boats to disperse.
Five armed Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats surrounded the British ship in an attempt to force the ship off course and stop in nearby Iranian waters.
HMS Montrose, which was tailing the ship aimed it’s war guns at the Iranian boats and issued a stern warning to which they retreated.
The report comes at a time of growing tension following last week’s capture of an Iranian oil tanker, believed to be heading for Syria and violating EU sanctions. The US and Britain continue to be in a stand-off with Tehran.

Climate change: What it means for 2050
BBC follows a report that by 2050 we could see significant changes in 520 major City’s. The 2C temperature increase could lead to London suffering from extreme drought as we witnessed with Barcelona in 2008.
When Barcelona faced extreme drought they were forced to import drinking water from France at a heavy cost, roughly £20 million.
The increase could lead to the UK’s average temperature over the hottest month rising to 27C. And whilst that sounds good the impact could be devastating.
University Professor, Mike Lockwood has warned: “Bringing Barcelona’s climate to London sounds like it could be a good thing- if you don’t suffer from asthma or have a heart condition, that is – except London’s clay shrinks and is brittle if it gets too dry and the swells and expands when very wet”.
He added: “As ever, there is a destructive and unforeseen devil in the details of climate change.”
