WHALEY BRIDGE DAM: RESIDENTS ALLOWED TO GO HOME
BBC News reports the residents of Whaley Bridge have been allowed to return home. Emergency services and crews have been working around the clock to lower water levels and repair the broken dam wall. 
On Thursday, 1500 residents were evacuated after part of the dam wall collapsed after heavy rainfall. Charities, neighbouring towns and local businesses offered up their services providing rooms, food, water and other essentials.
On Wednesday, Derbyshire police confirmed the danger has passed and the evacuation lifted. The police will stay in the area for another week to help residents and address any concerns they have.

MISSING ‘VULNERABLE’ GIRL APPEAL
The Daily Mail reports the family of Nora Quoirin, 15, issue an emotional appeal to find the ‘vulnerable’ teen. 
Nora went missing five days ago whilst on holiday with her family in Malaysia. She has been described as having learning and developmental disabilities. Her family believes she has been abducted but they remain hopeful she will be found.
Police are analysing unidentified fingerprints found in the resort cottage she and her family were staying in. Initially, they said there were no signs of foul play, but now, are ‘not ruling out any possibility.’ Police believe Nora is still in the area.
The rescue operation has more than 200 people, including police, soldiers, sniffer dogs and a local tribe.

BORIS BACKED PLANS TO SEND BRITISH TROOPS TO YEMEN
The Independent says Boris Johnson backed plans to send British troops to Yemen when he was Foreign Secretary. The paper says the plan is still ‘on the table’. The planned mission was aimed at British troops taking control of Hodeidah, a vital port for aid going into the country.
Johnson and a number of commanders backed the plans however fears British troops would be dragged into combat led May’s government to decide against the decision. One former British officer said: “there was a lot of support but some worried about the headlines.”
“I hope now that Boris is at Downing Street we would not shirk missions such as these when they become necessary. My impression is that he will want to take action,” he added.
