BREXIT: BACKSTOP INDISPENSABLE, SAYS MACRON
French president, Emmanuel Macron has said the Irish backstop plan was “indispensable” to preserving political stability and the single market. During a Brexit talk with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Macron added the UK’s vote to leave the EU must be respected. Mr Johnson still opposes the backstop and said with “energy and creativity we can find a way forward.” The article says it seems Macron and Merkel are both avoiding shutting the door on Boris and perhaps neither want to be blamed for a no-deal.

WOMEN ARRESTED AFTER 10-YEAR-OLD FOUND DEAD IN A CARAVAN
The Daily Mail says a woman has been arrested on suspicion of neglect after a boy was found dead in a caravan in Birmingham on Thursday. Police were called to Acocks Green at 7:30 am after the boy was found unconscious in a caravan parked in a driveway. Despite being rushed to the hospital, ‘nothing could be done to save him’ and he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. Officers entered the property on Thursday but according to neighbours, the family were not home. The 10-year-olds death is being treated as unexplained.

MAN CLEARED OVER VIDEO OF BURNING GRENFELL TOWER MODEL
The Guardian reports Paul Bussetti, 47 has been cleared of a criminal offence over a video of a model “Grenfell Tower” being burned. In the video, his group of friends are heard laughing and joking. He was accused of sending “grossly offensive” footage, which was taken at a friend’s bonfire party in 2018. However, chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnott said the handling of Mr Bussetti’s case was “appalling” after evidence was disclosed to the defence. The video showed the model of the tower with black and brown cardboard figures of people inside as it burned. And racial epithets were discovered in Bussetti’s private chats.
