Trump says staff ‘were crying’ in first interview since indictment
Donald Trump has given his first interview since being indicted on business fraud charges last week.
Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, Trump claimed that many of the staff at the Manhattan court where he was processed “were in tears or close to it.” He maintained his innocence and vowed not to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, even if convicted.
The former president’s interview aired on Tuesday, he described how he was processed at the criminal court by officials, saying police had tears “pouring down their eyes.”
“They were incredible,” he said of the staff. “When I went to the courthouse, which is also a prison in a sense, they signed me in and I’ll tell you people were crying.
“People that work there. Professionally work there that have no problems putting in murderers and they see everybody.

“It’s a tough, tough place and they were crying. They were actually crying. They said, ‘I’m sorry.'”
At a court appearance in New York last week, the former president pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records.
During the interview, Trump praised the foreign leaders of Russia, Saudi Arabia, and China, and said that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un “get along great to this day.”
The interview follows a recent filing from a defamation lawsuit involving Fox News channel, which revealed that Tucker Carlson had said in a text message: “I hate him passionately” when discussing Donald Trump. But there were no signs of any ill will between Trump and Carlson during the interview at Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
