A man accused of crashing into White House barriers apparently planned to deliver a coup speech announcing the end of American democracy.
Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, intended to overthrow US government and kill President Joe Biden if necessary in the May 22 crash, according to prosecutors. Kandula was being held without bail awaiting a hearing on Tuesday on if he should remain imprisoned pending a possible trial.
Kandula kept a ‘green book’ journal with the speech he planned to give if he had overthrown the government, federal prosecutors wrote in a memo filed on Friday pushing for him to remain behind bars with no conditions.
‘My fellow citizens of America,’ wrote Kandula in the memo obtained by NBC News.

Kandula concluded his passage with ‘Sieg hail’, misspelling the Nazi motto ‘Seig Heil’ which translates to ‘hail victory’.
The resident of Chesterfield, Missouri, also praised Nazi leader Adolf Hitler as a ‘strong leader’, the memo states.
Images of the bollards that Kandula struck with his rented U-Haul truck were also contained in the memo, with the White House pictured in the background.

Kandula allegedly pulled out a Nazi swastika flag from inside the truck before authorities took him into custody at Lafayette Square north of the White House grounds around 9.35pm. No one was injured.
Though he was detained, Kandula declared his crash mission successful and told Secret Service agents that his writings would become widely known.
‘Either way, whether I got into the White House or not,’ the memo quotes him as saying, ‘My message was received.’
