Treason star Oona Chaplin hopes her character Maddy can have a happy ending after being left a widow.
The series has quickly become one of the hottest new shows to sink your teeth into, with the spy thriller becoming one of the most-watched shows on Netflix since being released this week.
Starring Marvel’s Charlie Cox (best known for playing Daredevil) as MI6 agent Adam Lawrence, his world becomes complicated with the arrival of Russian spy Kara (Olga Kurylenko), a figure from his past whose re-emergence has an impact on both his career and his relationship with wife Maddy (Oona).
The five-part series dropped on the streaming service on Boxing Day, and for those who have already binged the whole season, they’ll know there are plenty of revelations.
Despite being suspected as a double agent, it ends with Adam in the clear, however he is shot dead by his former friend Dede, who now works for the CIA.
Instead, the actual double agent – known by code name Dorian – is in fact Adam’s MI6 best friend, Patrick.

He also meets his end, being killed by Kara.
The final scenes show Maddy, a former army captain and now occupational therapist, looking after her late husband’s children.
Now Oona has opened up about the plot twists and her hopes for a life of normality for Maddy, as well as a potential second season.

Speaking about Adam’s death, Oona said she hoped there was ‘some kind of trial or hearing’ after the murder.
‘I imagine that she’s probably going on a rampage to clear her husband’s name and to find justice,’ she told Cosmopolitan.
‘And I would imagine that Ella does not like that, but comes to understand the value of it as she gets a bit older. And then [I’d imagine] Callum is more enthusiastic about defending his dad’s name.’

She also added that she hoped the UK Government would ‘give them a fat compensation for all the trouble they’ve caused’.
‘But I don’t know if that’s even a thing. If I was Maddy, I would hope for that. But as Oona I’m like, “I don’t know if that’s the best use of taxpayers’ money”,’ she said.
While Oona said that she’s yet to even be part of a conversation about a second season, it appears it’s currently slated to simply be a limited series.
‘We certainly haven’t discussed it. I don’t think that anyone will know until at least it’s been out, and then [producers] can see what viewers and what all of you guys think,’ she said.
However, looking forward she said she wanted Maddy to ‘have her own little clinic with a perfect meadow, in a lovely little cottage and just have a family life, and for her to be pregnant with Adam’s child’.
‘That’s what I would like to see. And then eventually meet some lovely carpenter who makes chairs and can provide for her in a very calm and uneventful and happy, balanced life for the rest of time.’

Although Treason sees Daredevil star Charlie playing a spy, he recently told Metro.co.uk it didn’t quite put him in the running to be the next Bond.
‘I’m not right for it,’ he said.
He also said that since starring in Treason he believed it ruled him out even more: ‘I’ve kind of done it – it’s almost too close to home’.
Treason is streaming on Netflix.
