Charlie Cox’s new Netflix series Treason might be worlds away from his role as Daredevil, but a sneaky Marvel Easter Egg has been spotted in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment.
The actor’s new project, created by Bridge of Spies screenwriter Matt Charman, sees him lead the cast as Adam Lawrence, a high-ranking MI6 officer who’s made acting chief of the service, before facing accusations of being a double agent.
From 2015 to 2018, Charlie became a Marvel fan-favourite in Netflix’s Daredevil, a role he reprised in the ensemble-led show The Defenders.
Following Daredevil’s cancellation on the streaming platform, it was confirmed that the 40-year-old will return in a brand new production called Daredevil: Born Again on Disney Plus.
The very welcome news came after he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, shortly before showing up again as Matt Murdock in She-Hulk.
Given the high levels of anticipation around Charlie’s future in the MCU, it should come as no surprise that an unexpected Marvel nod in Treason has proven very exciting for fans.

In the third episode of the programme, Charlie’s character Adam is enjoying a cosy evening at home with his wife Maddy de Costa (Oona Chaplin), daughter Ella (Beau Gadsdon) and son Callum (Samuel Leakey).
The family are playing the game where you have to stick the name of a character on your forehead and guess who you are, with Adam struggling to deduce that he’s Cleopatra.
When it’s Ella’s turn, she plasters ‘Spider-Man’ on her head, before asking if she has a fictional character.
Given Charlie’s return as Daredevil was officially confirmed in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Easter Egg has gone down a treat with some viewers on Twitter.
‘I laughed,’ one person tweeted, alongside a screenshot of the scene, while another exclaimed: ‘THE SPIDER-MAN EASTER EGG.’
During a recent conversation with Metro.co.uk, Charlie opened up about his hopes for Daredevil: Born Again, revealing he’d love for She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany to show up.
‘I’ve made it no secret that I’m a huge fan of Tatiana’s and the fun we had on She-Hulk was some of the best fun I’ve had as that character,’ he said.
‘I thought she was amazing as Jennifer Walters, and I would be a huge… certainly an advocate of her showing up in our show if she’s free and available and willing and all of those things. So I would love for that to happen. I have no idea if that is possible.’
Treason is available to watch on Netflix.
