Charlie Murphy made it his mission to answer the burning question on everyone’s lips at Christmas time: how are Celebrations tubs really divided up when it comes to chocolate type?

While it tends to feel like Milky Way and Bounty outnumber the rest, is this really the case? Or are these the less-desired chocs, so they’re simply left at the end?

The 28-year-old has done the hard work for us this Christmas by getting into the nitty gritty of how many chocolates the average Celebrations tub contains and sharing his results.

‘I was interested to know the best ones because I really don’t like Snickers or Bounty – and it always seems like there are more of the ones you don’t like,’ Charlie, from Ripon, North Yorkshire, tells Metro.

‘So I thought there are eight different types of Celebrations, so I needed eight different tubs. Then we split them up and did a count.

‘My wife thought I was crazy for buying eight tubs of sweets.’

According to Charlie’s findings – and much to his dismay – Snickers was the most popular by far with an average of 89 across eight tubs, which equates to 11.1 per box.

This was followed by Milky Way with an average of 11 per tub, then Mars with 10.8 and Bounty with an average of 7.25.

Maltesers was next up with an average of 6.8 per tub, followed by Twix at 6.1. However, both the normal Galaxy and caramel varieties came in joint last place with just 6 per box.

‘It was a bit of a shame to see the results, to be honest,’ added Charlie. ‘It was very emotional and very disheartening to see Snickers as the top.

‘I hate nuts and the smell of Snickers – I’d rather have a box of empty wrappers.

‘Also, Maltesers is my favourite so it was sad to see there were only 55 across eight tubs.’

    caramel 48 – average of 6
    Bounty 58 -average of 7.25
    Milky Way 88 – average of 11
Twix 49 in total average of 6.125
    Malteasers 55 – average of 6.875
    Snickers 89 – average 11.125
    Galaxy 48 – average of 6
    Mars 87 – average of 10.875

A full breakdown of Charlie’s results were posted on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok (@charliemurphy50).

But the work isn’t over for Charlie, as he says it’s inspired him to get to work on another popular Christmas chocolate.

He said: ‘I’m going to be doing another investigation tonight, because it’s been such a hit.

‘I’m going to be doing Heroes tonight with eight boxes and I’m hoping the Dairy Milk is going to be the frontrunner.’
